What Are the Best Skin Treatments after Weight Loss?

Have you achieved a major weight loss goal? Congratulations! The next step is to fine-tune all your hard work and treat yourself to the right skin treatment to help tighten any loose skin that might be standing in your way of absolutely loving your new look. There are a number of options available, but my three favorite skin treatments after weight loss are Ultherapy, Venus Legacy, and injectable fillers. Here’s why.

1. Ultherapy

New Beauty 2019 award-winner Ultherapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses ultrasound energy to gently yet effectively lift and tighten the skin in your brow, chin, neck, or chest area. Because it is not a surgical procedure, Ultherapy does not require any downtime, so you can get back to your normal routine immediately after your appointment.

Most people see a gradual improvement in the tightness and smoothness of their skin over two to three months after their Ultherapy treatment, with final results developing in six months. Ultherapy stimulates collagen production within your skin, so results can last for over a year before you might need a touch-up treatment.

2. Venus Legacy

Another nonsurgical option, Venus Legacy uses multi-polar radio frequency and pulsed electromagnetic fields to gently heat the underlying layers of tissue beneath your skin’s surface, without damaging surrounding tissue. This process stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers, creating a tightening and lifting effect.

Venus Legacy can be used on the face and body to tighten loose skin and provide a toning effect. This treatment can also be used to get rid of stubborn cellulite, which is very difficult to otherwise address.

Most people require multiple treatment sessions, each spaced about a week apart, to achieve optimal results. Each treatment usually takes 30 minutes or less, and you should be able to go right back to work and other daily activities immediately after your appointment.

3. Fillers

After significant weight loss, many people feel that their face appears to be “sunken in” or “hollow.” This is caused by fat loss in the cheeks and mid-face. Injectable fillers are often used to plump the cheeks and lips to create a fuller, more youthful appearance. Additionally, properly placed fillers can have the added benefit of temporarily smoothing away lines and wrinkles. I recommend hyaluronic acid fillers, as these products can be dissolved using a special enzyme called hyaluronidase if you are unhappy with your results for any reason. Hyaluronic acid fillers also offer a soft, smooth result that can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, depending on the exact filler you choose.

If you are thinking about getting fillers, read this blog about how to choose a dermal filler, then be sure to choose an experienced, reputable provider. There are many fake or inexperienced filler providers out there who may put the quality of your results and your health and safety at risk.

Bottom Line

Pair these popular skin treatments with the proper anti-aging skincare regimen to help prolong your results and keep your skin protected from signs of premature aging. One of the best things you can do for your skin to avoid sagging, wrinkles, and health complications is to wear daily sunscreen.
